Jab We Met Music Review

Movie: Jab We Met
Music Director: Pritam
Ratings: ****

Who says the music of a romantic film can not give an additional feel to the movie. Here we have a classic example after DDLJ (not the only one though) where the music is as romantic as the film.

The Beauty of the film's music is the innocence in the songs. Use of folk instruments in the song "Yeh Ishq hai" gives it a unique identity and is a very melodious song(like all others in the movie) to hear.
Another awesome track in the movie is the "Aao Milon chale"- its almost like you dream of spending a lifetime in love, the whole journey being of just 5.24 mins (song duration).
But my pick is Mohit Chauhan's "Tum se Hi", especially for the -'Ah ah a a a ah... ah ah a a a ah...', i would always repeatedly listen to the song for this interlude in the beginning and the end. Progression, mixing of the song is next to perfection that only few great musicians have been able to achieve. A cute song!
Then the most popular dance number of its year "Mauja hi Mauja" where it seems the song is made only for Mika- he's sung it with a lot of vigour and passion, that when others sing this song on reality shows, they only end up losing votes. Another dance track "Nagada Nagada" also creates a peppy mood, though it could have been better.
However, the little promoted Ghazal sung by Rashid Khan "Aaoge jab tum saajana" is my second favourite along with "Yeh ishq", primarily for the depth in the composition and its rare to find such songs in todays films.

Overall, a listen anytime, feel good everytime album. Songs gel well with the script and i remember it as the only movie with love story as it's central theme after "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" that has managed to stay afresh in the minds of the audiences... Wait.. did i just go too overboard in praising Imtiaz Ali?
